Hodeidah Governorate .. Marine Tourism Future

إWhat we call today Hodeidah governorate represents large parts, historically known as Tihama of Yemen. Tihama are plains extending along the coast of the Red sea. It was under this name because of its high temperature and still winds. Tihama means in language the opposite of Najd or the lowland. In Yemeni ancient language inscriptions , the name Tihama was the reverse name for mountains or plain lands.

Location :
Hodeidah governorate is located in the western part of Yemen Republic in plain areas of the Red sea coast and to the west of Sanaa the capital by (226km). It lies between the latitudes ( 13 30 – 15 50 ) north of the equator and the longitudes (42 45 – 43 40). On its north boundaries is Hajah governorate and Taiz governorate from the south and parts of the governorate Ibb, Raymah, Dhamar, Sanaa , Mahwait, and Hajah from the east. In the west, it is opposite to the eastern coast of the Red sea.

Population :
Population & Houses census (2004) of Hodeidah reached about (2164279 inhabitants).
Hodeidah governorate is the second of the Republic governorates in terms of population.

Climate :
The climate is relatively warm in summer and moderate in winter. It is one of the best areas for those who are interested to enjoy weekly, seasonal and annual leaves in winter and summer.

Temperature :
The mean monthly high temperature in winter reaches ( 31.90 Max and 180 Min ) In summer, it reaches ( 39.20 Max and 31.80 Min ). Rains of seasonal winds coming from Indian Ocean decrease the high temperature of summer.
Humidity:
Mean degree of relative humidity is 74%. It is between 80% in Feb as maximum and 68% in Nov as minimum.
Wind Direction & Speed: Wind generally blows from south and west. Its mean speed is between (8.6 – 10.9) knots.
Rain Falling: Rain falls in small quantities and the rainy season is in April, August and December.
