Sana'a as a Name
Sana'a was called by ancient Yemenites the capital of Yemen and the Metropolis of Arabia Felix by the Romans. It is said that it was founded by Shem, the son of Noah and hence used to be called Sam City or Azal a grandson of Shem.
Poets and Legends Accounts
Sana'a is said was coined for the city because it used to be a manufacturing place of ancient Yemen. Amen Al-Rayhani a Lebanese poet described it as Queen of time and the Mistress of humans and Genies. He spoke about is fresh climate, clean water and unique architecture back in 1922 when the city was living in a medieval time capsule.
